TICKET Act Passes US House with Overwhelming Bipartisan Support
The United States House of Representatives sent a resounding message with the passage of the TICKET Act by a vote of 409-15. The bill has strong support on both sides of the aisle and is viewed as a major step towards creating a better, more fan friendly, ticket ecosystem in the United States. The key points of the bill which the TTSA supports are:
* Removes hidden fees and requires all ticket sellers, including Ticketmaster, to disclose the full price of the ticket upfront.
* Gets rid of the deceptive venue look-a-like websites that seek to deceive consumers into thinking they are purchasing from the “official” site.
* Regulates speculative ticketing so ticket sellers must clearly disclose if they do not have the ticket they are listing for sale in their p0ssession. While creating separate ticket procurement services that fans can choose to use if they want to purchase tickets in that manner.
* Requires the FTC to act on illegal bots.
This is a step in the right direction and hopefully the US Senate will now quickly pass this version of the TICKET Act so that it can be signed into law. Article here on the TICKET Act passing the House.
